An anniversary gift from a photo together

5 minute read

An anniversary gift can feel personal because of an ordinary detail. Your formal wedding portrait may not tell your story as clearly as a walking holiday photograph, a favourite jumper or a familiar hug. Those details are useful starting points for a couple figurine. Rather than trying to include everything about your relationship, choose one moment and a few features you both recognise. The ideas below can help you select a scene, decide on a finish and find a short inscription you would enjoy seeing on the shelf.

Remember a first trip through a simple pose

Think of a journey you still talk about. The figurine does not need to include the whole landscape. Your coats, a backpack or the way you turn towards each other may be enough. Choose a photograph with visible faces and explain which outfit belongs to the memory. Concentrate on the pose and two or three familiar details rather than a busy background.

If the memorable image is blurred, you can provide clearer, more recent face references as well. Explain that the older picture supplies the pose or clothing. A shared scene assembled from separate photos needs a discussion about the arrangement first; not every viewpoint fits together equally well. The photo guide helps you identify a main reference and decide which details should be shown separately.

Your everyday clothes can carry the story

An ordinary photograph at home can show more personality than a carefully posed portrait. A favourite cardigan, a familiar hairstyle or the way you stand together might be enough. Write a short list: keep the striped top, include the glasses, simplify the hand position. A stylised figurine is not an exact photograph, so identify what makes it recognisable to you. Tiny patterns and thin accessories may need simplifying as the scene becomes a stable decorative piece.

You could also celebrate your life now rather than recreate an older occasion. Take a new photograph in clothes you often wear. If you are planning a surprise, consider how much your partner would want to choose their own appearance. Designing it together may be the more welcome gift. A personal letter explaining the chosen memory can accompany that invitation, even if you review the concept later as a pair. The shared decision can be part of the anniversary rather than something to hide.

Find a few words for the base

A short inscription is easier to read and does not need to make a grand declaration. Try “You and me”, “Another year together”, “Our first adventure” or simply “Still us”. Names and a date are another option. A phrase you use between yourselves may say more than a familiar quotation. There is no fixed romantic style to follow: a small piece of shared humour can work too, provided the words still make sense as an inscription.

The base inscription allows up to 30 characters, including spaces and punctuation. Check names, date order and spelling before confirming the final wording. If the message is too long, shorten it rather than expecting every word to fit at the expense of readability. The concept image may not show the inscription, so it is confirmed separately before production. You can also choose a base without words. The absence of a message does not make the figurine any less personal.

A finished surprise or time painting together

Choose the ready-in-colour version if you want a piece that can go straight on display. A white figurine can be the start of a shared painting activity, with a painting kit available separately. You do not have to copy the clothing colours from the photo. Try a quiet shared palette or something more playful. The paint-your-own page and painting guide explain the options. Plan around the actual product instructions rather than assuming the activity will take a fixed amount of time.

Measure the shelf where the piece will stand. Suggested heights are 10, 15 and 20 cm, with a slider for freely choosing a height up to 25 cm. A small mug or an upright book gives a rough sense of scale, but objects vary. Allow room for the width of the pair and the optional base. Larger pieces go through “Special request”. The finish and selected extras affect the price, and the final amount is confirmed in your quote.

Allow room for discussion and approval

After selecting your concept and entering your order details, review the total and pay. The separate, rotatable 3D model follows payment, with up to three change requests. Production uses the accepted version. If you do not respond within five days of the first model notification, the first version is automatically accepted; we send a reminder beforehand.

Quick questions

Can an old photograph work? Yes, if the important details are clear enough to assess.
